One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Check my survey requirement

Credential — membership, qualification or professional designation

Capability — the right vessel, material, size and survey experience

Appointment — authority from the relevant flag or organisation

Acceptance — confirmation that the resulting report or certificate will be accepted

Grenadian survey locations

Plan the survey around Grenada’s southern yards and the Grenadine islands

Most established yacht facilities are in southern Grenada, while Carriacou and Petite Martinique are separate island assignments. Confirm the actual berth, yard access, lift capacity, ferry or flight plan and whether the work is private or intended for the Grenada registry.

St George’s & Lagoon

St George’s · Lagoon Road marinas · Grand Mal

A central yacht and service area with varied marina access. Confirm the berth, contractor permission, haul-out booking and authority for a sea trial.

Prickly Bay & south-west

Prickly Bay · True Blue · Secret Harbour · Clarkes Court Bay

A broad concentration of cruising yachts, storage and repair activity. State the exact facility because lift capability and external-contractor access differ.

Find a surveyor in this region →

St David’s & south-east

St David’s Harbour · south-east yards and anchorages

Yard-based assignments require confirmed access, vessel dimensions and launch status. Check whether specialist testing can be completed at the facility.

Grenville & east coast

Grenville · eastern Grenada ports and bays

Leisure-yacht support is more limited than in the south. A full survey may require travel or moving the vessel to an appropriate yard.

Carriacou & Petite Martinique

Tyrell Bay · Hillsborough · Petite Martinique

Treat each island as a separate assignment. Confirm ferry or flight travel, local lift capability, accommodation and the weather window.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Grenada marine survey quote?

Provide the island, exact marina, yard or anchorage, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and preferred date. Include haul-out, sea trial, inter-island travel and any insurer, lender or Grenada registration requirement.

Can one surveyor cover Grenada and Carriacou?

Potentially, but Carriacou is a separate travel assignment. Ferry or flight timing, accommodation, local transport, yard access and the surveyor’s availability must be agreed for the actual island.

Does Grenada registration require a survey?

Grenada’s Shipping Act requires a ship to be surveyed and measured before registration, while the Grenada Maritime Administration also identifies proof-of-survey requirements for defined vessels. Confirm the applicable certificate and appointed route before instruction.

Can a complete survey be performed at an anchorage?

An afloat inspection may be possible, but a complete assignment often needs reliable access, shore power and an ashore view of the underwater body. Agree tender and haul-out arrangements first.

Are island travel, haul-out and sea trial included?

Only when stated in writing. Ferry or air travel, accommodation, taxis, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist diagnostics can be separate.

Who appoints the marine surveyor?

The client appoints and instructs the independent surveyor directly after agreeing scope, fee, timing and terms. Grenada Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include charter-fleet condition surveys, storm & hurricane damage surveys, island delivery & sea trials, rig & mast inspections, engine diagnostics & oil analysis, moisture, osmosis & corrosion, salvage, grounding & recovery inspection, grenada registration & tonnage work. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
